Emerging sounds of the south

Once upon a time there was an ambitious group of guys who came together for a cause. They combined their resources to purchase studio equipment with the dream of some day making it in the music industry. Years later, reality did its thing and introduced his best friend named “Responsibilities” and eventually the dream died. That story was about me and my homies.

We didn’t want the same thing to happen to our younger brothers, so we introduced them to the studio equipment that we no longer used. They brought in their friends, acquaintances and strangers to make music and come up with stage names such as Emuzee, Lejjy Maison, NDBZMND and Kwame. These guys are the original team in my eyes and most of them have multi-faceted skills such as writing, producing, composing, rapping and singing.

Its unfortunate that they don’t have a group name, but I believe in their craft and that they only need one break-through and the game will change, falling to their mercy.

The latest project release is a 6 song EP from Kwame titled “Armour Propre” (Self-Love). The project was released suitably on his birthday, the 11th of November. As expected the EP features mates such as Emuzee, NDBZMND, Fortunate Pharaoh, Dj Cueshikisha and the sensual vocals from Solam

Kwame takes an unorthodox approach to represent his ideals, state of mind, drugs, women, sexuality, ambitions and how he feels about love. I Personally like this project and the stand out songs are “Right Now”, “Alone”, “Yasho” and “Inhliziyo Yam”. I’m not going to bombard you with hyperboles of descriptive words when you can listen and judge for yourself. However, I will suggest that you listen to it a couple of times before deciding.
