In my opinion, there are 3 types of songs: songs that entertain, songs that spread a message and ones that take you on a journey where you find yourself fully immersed in a world you otherwise wouldn’t be able to reach on your own. Ndabezimnandi accomplishes this by ticking all the boxes and then some in his new single titled Home. You’d have to hear it for yourself to understand what I’m talking about, but before that let me say a few things for good measure. Here we go…
There’s something comforting about the melody in the song as if it was a lullaby made for adults, (yet touches the same nerve even if you’re a teenager) accompanied by a distinct voice that takes you into a place where the people in the song sound familiar even though you’ve never met them before. I’m not only saying that because I have an honourable mention in the song, but because everyone that has heard the song shares the same sentiments.
The song paints a picture of his state of mind, the complexities one may face as an up and coming artist and his insecurities about friends who are connected and claim to have your back when they really don’t. Ndabezimnandi lets us into his family dynamics, talks briefly about his father being a preacher, his mother being is a loving woman and his eldest brother who’s got his back (always). He goes on to sneeze on the track which brings us back to reality and reminds us of the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown currently enforced by the government for us to stay home as an opportunity to look deep within ourselves.
Okay, the few words have been written down and expressed, go ahead and check out the song titled HOME and leave a comment about your thoughts on it.
